Edward McKaig, DVM
The owner of New Haven Pet Hospital, Dr. Edward McKaig has provided care for pets in the New Haven area as a general practitioner since 1982. A native of Michigan, Dr. McKaig's family moved to Fort Wayne when he was 12 years old. He graduated from Wayne High School and then attended Purdue University, where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science in 1979. He continued his education at Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine and was awarded his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1982. His professional interests include general medicine and surgery.
Dr. McKaig and his wife, Cindi, are the proud parents of four children, Kendra, Stephanie, Alissa and Scott. The family also includes a bulldog named Emmie. Dr. McKaig enjoys spending his leisure time with his family, playing golf and reading.
Elizabeth Patrick, DVM
Dr. Elizabeth Patrick has cared for pets as an associate veterinarian at New Haven Pet Hospital since 2002. A native of Knightstown, Dr. Patrick attended Purdue University and received her Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science in 1998. She continued her veterinary education at Purdue and was awarded her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. Her professional interests include ultrasonography and cardiology. She is a member and vice-president of the Northeast Indiana Veterinary Medical Association, a member of the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association, and a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Patrick's animal companions include two dogs, Lacey and Otto, and two cats, Sylvester and Sable. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, fishing and going on hikes with her husband, Allen.
Lorrie Riggs, DVM
A general practitioner at New Haven Pet Hospital since 2007, Dr. Lorrie Riggs grew up in New Castle. She attended Purdue University and received her Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture in 1996. She went on to attend the Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine and was awarded her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. Her professional interests include soft tissue surgery, ophthalmology and behavior.
Dr. Riggs is a member of the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association, the Northeast Indiana Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association. She is also a two-time recipient of the Thurman Poe Humanitarian of the Year Award, which she received in 2005 and 2006.
In her spare time, Dr. Riggs enjoys gardening, fishing, golfing and spending time with her family. She's also a dedicated Purdue football fan and can be found with her husband, Brandon, cheering in the stands at most games. Dr. Riggs' home is filled with pets and she enjoys the companionship of seven dogs, eight cats and a horse named Braveheart.
