Puppy Training Classes
The Puppy Class at New Haven Pet Hospital in New Haven, Indiana is an excellent way for you to bond with your new pet while learning important skills and behavior training! Puppy Class leaders Angie and Stephanie can help you and your new family member learn basic obedience skills, socialization skills, crate training, clicker training and more. Classes are held every other Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. At the end of the five-session class, your puppy will receive a certificate of completion. Meet Our Puppy Class Trainers
Stephanie Fries: Stephanie has been teaching Puppy Class at New Haven Pet Hospital since 1999. She has her certificate in Dog Training and Behavior from Purdue University.
Angie Beineke: Angie has been assisting Puppy Class at New Haven Pet Hospital since 2006. She is working towards her registered veterinary technician degree through Purdue University.
Our Puppy Class curriculum includes:
- Puppy Training Tools: Gentle Leader, Kong Toys, Busy Buddy Toys, clicker training and crate training
- Basic Obedience Commands: sitting, staying, lay down and coming when called
- Appropriate Household Behaviors
- Health Care Night: brushing, nail trims and dental care
- Obstacle Course Night: This gets your puppy accustomed to different objects, obstacles, sights and sounds they might encounter on a daily basis.
Requirements: All puppies must have their first and second vaccinations administered by a veterinarian; proof of vaccination is required. Puppies must be 4 months old or younger. We encourage you to bring a collar and 4-6 foot leash (no chain collars or retractable leashes, please) to each class, along with lots of small treats to help motivate your pup.
